BMW Motorrad Canada (CSBK)

The radX/BMW Motorrad Canada Superbike Team was formed in 2010 as a result of the launch of BMW's new liter bike, the S1000RR. This is the factory race team for BMW Canada and they compete in the Canadian Superbike Championship with a two-rider team. The riders for 2010 were #16 Francis Martin, a two time Canadian Superbike Champion and #210 Michael Ferreira, a rookie Superbike rider that has been racing with BMW in twins racing for the past three years. Although BMW Motorrad Canada is situated in Richmond Hill Ontario, the team bikes are built and maintained by Mobile PG tuner Patrice Goyette of Sherbrooke Quebec. Patrice Goyette was added to the team because of his many years of Superbike racing experience and his abilities to work with both English and French speaking riders.

Title sponsor, radX, is an extreme sports television network and broadcasts a six part documentary called "Ultimate Superbike" a show based on the inaugural season of the radX/BMW Superbike Team. During the team¹s first season, expectation levels were cautiously optimistic as both riders were capable of winning races and being consistent podium finishers. 2010 team results contained podium finishes in 6 of 7 rounds and both riders finishing in the top 5 overall in the championship.

For the 2011 season, expectations are higher with the knowledge gained in the first season, data for bike set-up will be easier from track to track now that a base level has been established. A new rider addition in Brett McCormick will see a higher level of competitiveness from the BMW riders as Michael Ferreira will be back with the team partnered with Brett. McCormick raced the 2010 season in the AMA and will be bringing with him the knowledge and skills learned in the USA back home to Canada in hopes of claiming his first Canadian Superbike Championship in 2011.
